ABOUT ME |
...and I was born and raised right here in South Delta. My parents and grandparents immigrated from Aloe Setar in Malaysia to little old Ladner in 1980 and we have never left. I grew up 200 metres from the first house my grandparents purchased. My grandma lives there to this day and I currently live just down the street from her and my parents. The Wong family owned and operated Mr. Mike's Steakhouse in Ladner Village through the 80's and have stayed in South Delta because of its incredible beauty and the amazing community of people. They raised me to love this land and it would be my greatest honour to defend all the things that make South Delta truly different from anywhere else in the world. I come from a family of small business people and blue collar workers who taught me the value of hard work and the amazing opportunities that life in Canada has to offer.
I want nothing more than to preserve the things that I grew to love. I am at the stage in life where I am looking to start a family of my own and I would love my kids to enjoy the safety, community, and endless beauty of my childhood. South Delta is still the best place to raise children and I am looking forward to growing old doing the same things that I have always loved: canoeing the river, walking the dyke and farm roads, and saying hi to everybody in the streets. At the end of the day, wherever I go, I always want to come home. I graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy. My primary area of interest was in pure logic and its applications in moral philosophy. In that time I was also active in environmental initiatives and began a long education into the political workings of Delta. In 2014, I ran for Delta Council with an independent slate of Candidates working to bring you unencumbered representation at the municipal level. Following the campaign, I worked with the Friends of Delta Hospital to fight for the doctors of Delta Hospital and save its surgical program that has been chronically underfunded by the BC Liberals since 2002. I greatly appreciate and admire the work of Vicki Huntington. She has proven time and again that an independent MLA is the only one able to bring the true voice of South Delta to Victoria. She did this by tabling our 10,000 signature petition in Legislature. You can find out more about the campaign here. Since that time, I have relied on Vicki for advice and would be honoured to have the privilege of carrying on her legacy of honesty, transparency, and independent representation. My campaign has a single principle: In a political environment full of spin and "Alternative Facts", I will speak the TRUTH. I am looking forward to working with everyone in the community, hearing all positions and opinions, and listening to what you have to say. Together, we can determine what is in the best interests of South Delta. I am excited to go to Victoria to fight for my home and for all the people who make South Delta the best place in the wold. My Promise to you: I will speak the TRUTH. |
